Happy May!
I can hardly believe we are nearing the end of the school year! The month of May is always a busy time at school with STAR testing, Open House, Carnival, a few other PTA activities planned. I look forward to seeing everyone at Open House! Have a great month!
Jog-a-thon was a success!
Our 4th annual Jog-a-thon was a great success! As a school we raised $23,291! I am so proud of all our Bobcats and their families! Thank you all for your donations, commitment and support of our students and school! Our ExCEL program would not be the same without you! Special thanks to Cindy Arentsen, Cheryl Baltes, and Sandy Baxter for chairing this event and making it such a success! You’re “Paw”some! J
New Kindergarten Orientation- May 17th
Parents of students who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year are invited to attend our Spring Kindergarten Orientation on May 17th at 6:15. You will hear valuable information about the upcoming school year and how you can help your child be successful. Please plan to join us in the Information Center at 6:15. Thank you.
CST/STAR Testing- May 7th-18th
Students in grades 2-6 will participate in the STAR test from May 7th-18th. As a reminder, classrooms will not be interrupted during the testing hours each day, 8:10-10:00 am. Please be sure you send your child to school on time as well as prepared with all materials and their lunch. Here are a few other helpful hints to help your child succeed:
- Be sure your child gets a good night’s rest with an early bedtime each night
- Be sure they have a nutritious breakfast each morning
- Remind your child to take their time, read carefully, and do their best!
Open House- May 23rd
Please plan to join us for Open House on Wednesday, May 23rd from 6:30-8:00 pm. There will be a short presentation from me as well as the PTA recognizing our Honorary Service Award winners at 6:30 in the Information Center. Classrooms will be open from 7-8 pm and our Book Fair will be open all evening from 5:30-8:30. We will have a few raffles and a silent auction in the Information Center during the evening as well. This is always a fun, celebratory evening when students are able to share all their work and efforts with their family. I look forward to seeing everyone!
School Calendar

Also, you can sign up for our weekly eblast sent out by our PTA President for a weekly update of activities, events and a message from me. Calling All Kindergarteners for the 2012-13 school year!
Parents, we are currently enrolling Kindergarten students for 2012-13 school year. If your child will by turning 5 by November 1st, please come to the school office to register for Kindergarten.
You will need:
- a copy of your child’s birth certificate
- immunization records
- 2 proofs of residency.
OUSD will also be offering Transitional Kindergarten, (TK), for students with late summer and fall birthdays, (July-Nov). If you are interested in enrolling your child in the TK program, please let the school office know that when you are registering. The TK program will be a regional program for 2012-13 and Chapman Hills is currently not slated to hold one of the regional classrooms.
