NJHS
National Junior Honor Society, or NJHS, is a worldwide organization that consists of chapters in middle schools. As stated in the NHS constitution, the purpose of NJHS is "To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools." Selection is based on five criteria: citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character. Members must maintain a high grade point average and participating in service projects. The NJHS requires service to the community, school, or other organizations. The projects help students meet the required service hour total monthly.
The National Junior Honor Society is a national organization of students who demonstrate outstanding character and academic excellence. It is both a social and a service organization. To belong to the National Junior Honor Society at Santiago Charter Middle School, students must earn 26 grade points each trimester, have no N's or U's and submit a membership application at the end of 7th grade. Once accepted as an 8th grade member, a student is eligible to participate in social events and service projects each trimester as well as other activities that enhance the student's education.
