Our Crescent families and staff share a common vision to create a community of life-long learners who possess strong character traits of respect and responsibility. The staff is committed to creating an environment that provides maximum opportunities for learning. Our goal is to provide students with a strong educational foundation so that they leave Crescent Elementary with educational experiences that have prepared students academically, and instilled the problem-solving and critical thinking skills necessary to become successful and responsible members of society.
Welcome to Crescent Elementary School!
Crescent Elementary is in an idyllic setting, nestled next to Peralta Park, in a residential area in the northwest corner of Anaheim Hills. This 2013-14 school year there are approximately 790 students enrolled in grades Transitional Kindergarten through sixth. Our student population includes students representing sixteen language groups and seven GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) classes serving students in grades three through six. We value and honor our cultural diversity and are proud of the cross-cultural participation in school events.
Our staff models the belief that learning is a life-long journey. We have a strategic framework for whole school improvement based upon an analysis of student achievement and the selection of research-based instructional strategies. Teachers are trained in a variety of instructional strategies with an emphasis on the research-based "Nine Effective Strategies" by Robert Marzano, and the implementation of Thinking Maps, GLAD (Guided language Acquisition Design) and Step Up to Writing. We are committed to providing our students with opportunities to collaborate, communicate, think critically and be creative so that they may transition successfully as 21st century learners. We are extremely proud of our current 2013 Academic Performance Index (API) of 920.
We are also very fortunate to have such a strong parental support group at Crescent. Parents volunteer in classrooms on a regular basis, as well as for special events and activities. They encourage our students by making education a priority. Our wonderful PTA gives so much to our school. They provide fun, worthwhile community events that unite all of us together, and they are also instrumental in raising funds for special programs, technology and materials that enrich our school.
Crescent Elementary is a great place to learn. It is through teamwork and striving to reach the same high goals for our students that we are able to make a difference in their lives and ours.
I look forward to another fantastic year partnering with the community, staff and students.
