Principal's Message

Welcome to Nohl Canyon Elementary! We opened our doors in April, 1972. Currently we have 530 students in Kindergarten through sixth grade. With an API score of 924, we take great pride in the academic achievement of our students.

Nohl Canyon has a stellar staff and a variety of programs that offer rich learning opportunities for our students.

  • Gifted and Talented (GATE) Magnet School - Nohl Canyon serves as a GATE Magnet school for students in grades four through six.
  • Destination Imagination - DI is a creative competition in which. Nohl Canyon has placed in Regional, State and National Competitions. For more information please visit their webpage at:
  • Outdoor Science Camp - This once in a lifetime trip is a tremendous opportunity for our 6th grade students.
  • Class Act - Through an application process, only 40 elementary schools are selected throughout Orange County to participate. Students have the opportunity of working with professional musicians from the Pacific Symphony. For more information please visit their website at:

Come and join Nohl Canyon School Association (NCSA)! Our active parent association supports students academically, culturally, and through after school enrichment programs. With NCSA fundraising efforts, we have purchased a computer lab, playground equipment, science and art programs, assemblies, and guest speakers. Parent volunteers actively work in all of our classrooms. As the African proverb states, "It takes a village to raise a child," and this is very evident through our active parent community.

In conclusion, as a former roadrunner I am thrilled to be back as the principal. My passion as an educator is offering the very best to each child so they can reach their highest potential as a learner. I look forward to an exciting year filled with many events that will be the impetus to continuous and outstanding student learning. It will be a true pleasure and a privilege to work with such a tremendous group of dedicated partners in providing the best for our children.

Most Sincerely,

Amy Hitt
